Dodgers Considering Benching Shohei Ohtani in Massive Development

Thus, when the Los Angeles Dodgers take the field for what is essentially a must-win game on Wednesday, their best player may not be in the lineup. According to The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal and Katie Woo, the Dodgers are contemplating potentially benching Ohtani in Game 3 of the National League Championship Series against the Milwaukee Brewers. “Yeah, I mean obviously it hasn’t been good,” Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said to The Athletic after Monday's Game 2 loss. “He doesn’t feel great. I think for me, it’s having a conversation with him tomorrow, kind of try to figure out what’s best for him, what’s best for us. He certainly has earned that conversation and deserves it. Ohtani is just 3-for-20 through six postseason games. All three hits have been singles and he's struck out seven times. His last home run came on Aug. 18 against the Colorado Rockies. Since then, he's 14-for-90 (.156) with three extra-base hits, 36 strikeouts and an OPS of.483. Shohei Ohtani is 3-for-19 (.158) thus far in the postseason with three singles and seven strikeouts. Since August 19 (24 games) he's hitting.157 with 0 home runs and 1 run batted in. He's struck out 36 times. Any decision about Ohtani’s playing time will also include president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman, among others." However, the fact that it's even gotten to this point is a clear sign of how bad it's been for Ohtani.

3 Blazers Takeaways from Ja Morant Injury

Portland Trail Blazers won't have Ja Morant in the lineup for a few weeks after injuring his hamstring. Portland Trail Blazers guard Ja Morant reacts after the game against the Los Angeles Lakers. | IMAGN IMAGES via Reuters Connect The Portland Trail Blazers are shaking their heads after losing starting point guard Ja Morant to a hamstring injury that will sideline him for at least a month. Morant showed signs of strength during the first four games of the season, but left the team's most recent contest against his former Memphis Grizzlies team and did not return. Some members of the Portland Trail Blazers On SI staff explained how Morant's injury and absence will affect the team. Portland Trail Blazers guard Scoot Henderson drives to the basket against Memphis Grizzlies forward Jerami Grant. | IMAGN IMAGES via Reuters Connect "The Blazers will need to rely on the backcourt depth they have at their disposal. Though the number of guards on the roster was seen as a negative heading into the season, that abundance can now prove itself as a calculated advantage by the front office. "Scoot Henderson will need to improve on what has been an underwhelming start to his campaign after looking like a potential breakout candidate in the preseason. Hopefully, with extended minutes and an expanded role, Henderson can develop a rhythm similar to what we saw at the tail end of last season." — Sahal Arwo

Falcons vs. Bucs injury report: Brian Robinson ruled out for Sunday

Greetings, Falcoholics! Friday's practices have come and gone, and we now have an update on the health of both the Atlanta Falcons and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Falcons have had a lengthly injury report all week, and there's some notable names to keep an eye on prior to Sunday's game. As mentioned, and as you can see, the Falcons have a pretty long injury report on Friday. Several players have been designated as questionable to play, but only one has been officially ruled out: running back Brian Robinson. With Robinson being held out due to his ongoing hamstring injury, expect a heavy dose of Bijan Robinson and some reps for Khalil Herbert. A key name that popped up on Friday's report was right guard Chris Lindstrom, who is dealing with a personal matter that kept him off the practice field. He has no game designation, so it's expected that he will be out there on Sunday. The big news for the Buccaneers on Friday was that wide receiver Emeka Egbuka has been ruled out with a concussion and foot injury.
