For the first time since being traded to the Portland Trail Blazers, Ja Morant went up against his former team. Unfortunately for him and the Blazers, his revenge game was a loss as the Memphis Grizzlies won 124-103 to improve to 5-0 on the season. The loss was Portland's first of the season. Morant's night also ended prematurely when he was ruled out in the fourth quarter with a hamstring injury. Morant spent his seven seasons in the NBA with the Grizzlies and became one of the most beloved players in franchise history, but things turned rocky in his final season, and he was eventually traded over the summer. Morant discussed the matchup earlier this week, calling it "just another basketball game on the schedule." Harsh feelings or not, Morant would have liked to pick up a win against his former squad. Deni Avdija has had a strong start to the campaign as he looks to continue establishing himself among the best in the league, and that continued on Thursday despite the loss. On the Grizzlies' side, standout rookie Cam Boozer, the No. 4 overall pick, picked up the first of likely many triple-doubles in his young career.
