Historic Scoring
LeBron has built one of the most remarkable scoring résumés in NBA history. On January 25, 2021, he scored 46 points and grabbed 8 rebounds against Cleveland, recording the 22nd 45-point game of his career and moving past Jerry West for 10th all time in that category.
In March 2022, LeBron passed Karl Malone for second place on the NBA's career scoring list, reaching 36,947 points. Only Kareem Abdul-Jabbar was ahead of him at the time.
In 2022, he also passed Malone for the most 20-point games in NBA history, another milestone in a career defined by longevity and production.
Longevity
LeBron's durability has become one of his defining characteristics. During the 2020-21 season, he became the seventh player in NBA history to reach 50,000 career minutes.
At age 39 during the 2023-24 season, he remained one of the league's elite players despite being in his 21st NBA season.
His 2024-25 season added another record. At 40 years, 38 days old, he scored 40 points against Golden State, becoming the oldest player ever to record a 40-point game.
All-Around Production
LeBron's impact extends well beyond scoring. He ranks among the NBA's all-time leaders in points, assists and rebounds, and has been one of the league's most productive playmakers throughout his career.
He became the only player to surpass 9,000 career rebounds and 9,000 career assists, highlighting the unusual combination of scoring, rebounding and playmaking that has defined his game.
He also ranks among the league's all-time leaders in triple-doubles and became the record holder for 20-point triple-doubles.
1,000 Consecutive Games
On December 30, 2020, his 36th birthday, LeBron scored 26 points and added 8 assists in a 121-107 win over San Antonio.
The performance marked his 1,000th consecutive game scoring in double figures, by far the longest streak in NBA history.
Still Producing
During the second half of the 2021-22 season, LeBron averaged 33.5 points per game, leading the NBA in scoring after the All-Star break.
Although he did not win the MVP award that season, he earned All-NBA Third Team honors, extending his record-setting run of All-NBA selections to 18.
The All-Star Résumé
LeBron appeared in his 14th career NBA All-Star Game in 2017. He scored at least 20 points in 10 of his first 14 All-Star appearances and eventually became the first player in NBA history to surpass 500 career All-Star points.
The 2003 Draft
LeBron entered the NBA directly from St. Vincent-St. Mary High School as the No. 1 overall pick in the 2003 NBA Draft.
Scouts had already viewed him as NBA-ready while he was still in high school. His arrival in Cleveland immediately created enormous expectations, and his career ultimately became one of the defining stories of the league's modern era.
Physical Dominance
LeBron's combination of size, strength and athleticism has made him one of basketball's most imposing finishers.
He has remained an elite dunker deep into his career, routinely attacking the lane with power and finishing drives above the rim.
The Next Generation
Basketball has become a family affair for LeBron. His son, Bronny James, has followed him into the sport.
LeBron has described their competitiveness firsthand, including a game in which he said he shattered the backboard on a dunk and the two couldn't finish playing.
LeBron's Reach
During the 2023-24 season, the Lakers highlighted an unusual measure of LeBron's longevity: he had played against approximately 35% of all players in NBA history.
Across more than two decades, that number illustrates just how many generations of NBA players LeBron has shared the court with.
50,000 Points
In March 2025, LeBron reached another unprecedented milestone by surpassing 50,000 combined regular-season and playoff points.
It became another marker of the extraordinary volume and longevity behind his career totals.
