Ravens QB Lamar Jackson reportedly expected to return in Week 8 after missing 3 games with a high ankle sprain

The Baltimore Ravens are expected to get quarterback Lamar Jackson back for Sunday's matchup against the Buffalo Bills, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports. Jackson has missed the Ravens' past three games after suffering a high ankle sprain against the Tennessee Titans in Week 4. The quarterback returned to practice last week in a limited capacity before being ruled out for their Week 7 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. After returning to the field this week as a full practice participant, barring a setback Jackson is poised to make his return on Sunday. "The more you're able to do and respond from and feel from certainly raises your optimism," said Ravens head coach Jesse Minter when asked if Jackson was trending towards playing in Week 8. Jackson explained last week that the biggest factor in whether he would be able to play was not so much the level of swelling but how much of the pain he could deal with. Jackson's importance to the roster is on display every time he takes the field. According to ESPN's Jamison Hensley, the Ravens have scored 14 touchdowns in the 14 quarters the quarterback has played this season. In the 14 quarters without Jackson, Baltimore has only found the end zone five times. NFL news, live updates: Jonathan Taylor has not requested a trade amid Colts fire sale — but WR Josh Downs reportedly has; Lamar Jackson expected back for Week 8

Why extending Bo Nix will cripple Broncos, slam Denver's Super Bowl window shut

Nix's throwing the ball downfield like a 41-year-old Drew Brees with a degenerative right shoulder, despite being 26 years old The Denver Broncos (5-2) have a Bo Nix problem. The franchise has what it needs at head coach (Sean Payton), defensive coordinator (Vance Joseph), defense (a perennially top 10 scoring defense with nearly half its players either Pro Bowlers or All Pros) and at kicker (Wil Lutz). Yet, the Broncos' Super Bowl contention window could slam shut in the next year or two because of their quarterback. Nix, the 12th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, will be eligible to sign a multi-year extension beginning in the 2027 offseason. But general manager George Paton ought to think very carefully before fully committing to him as the team's face-of-the-franchise passer. This season, Denver has the 24th-ranked scoring offense (20.6 points per game), 30th-ranked total offense (270.0 total yards per game) and ranks 26th in yards per play (4.7). The Broncos' 270.0 total yards per game and 4.7 yards per play metrics are both the fewest in the first seven games of a season in Sean Payton's NFL head-coaching career. How could they be so inefficient offensively after upgrading their receiving corps with a trade for Jaylen Waddle this offseason? Look no further than Nix.

Stephen Curry Reacts to Anthony Edwards' Injury in Video, Talks Wolves Star's Recovery Timeline

Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry offered some advice to Anthony Edwards with the Minnesota Timberwolves guard sidelined for a stretch. Edwards will miss multiple weeks due to a knee injury. After Golden State's 119-114 win over Minnesota on Wednesday, Curry told reporters he reached out to the four-time All-Star after they've built a rapport through the U.S. national team. "I know he's gone through some stuff with the knee, but you just gotta have to do what you can with the rehab," he said. "Attack it the same way you do getting ready for games." Ant's Injury Doesn't Worry Wolves' President Bleacher Report 20h Ant to Miss Up to 2 Months Bleacher Report 1d J-Dub Suffers Gruesome Injury Bleacher Report 3d Curry battled ankle trouble early in his career and there were some fears it could be a problem that dogged him for years to come. That didn't prove to be the case, though injuries have limited the two-time MVP a bit as he got into his 30s. The 2019-20 was a nadir on that front as Curry played just five games after breaking his left hand. The prognosis for Edwards could be much worse. Barring any setbacks, he's going to return at some point this season. But watching your team from afar for multiple months is always a frustrating experience, especially when you have championship aspirations. Unfortunately for Edwards, there's no way to speed up the recovery process. That's often how those costly setbacks occur.
